A Sad Reality
Something happened day before yesterday that completely affected me. Those of you who get Hindustan Times, must've read it. If you're a mizo, you'd have heard the news by word of mouth. If you haven't this is what happened : 2 mizo girls and 2 non mizo (Indian guys) were involved in a car accident where one girl and the guy who was driving the car lost their lives and the other girl is in a very critical condition. Now there are alot of us, who must be thinking "it is thier fault, why were they roaming around so late in the night or so early in the morning, they have brought it upon themselves." I ask you to think again. If it was your daughter/sister or your son/brother, would these same words come out of your mouth? I know the girl's tragic death has been pretty controversial. People are talking about why she was in that car in the first place in the wee hours of the morning. These are answers that people have come up with "partying, call girl.. " but this is not the answer. the answer is POVERTY. No money. not enough to even eat one square meal a day. She came all the way from Mizoram in the hope of earning money to support her family financially. No work. No employment. So maybe she worked as a waitress in different parties, at odd hours... worst case scenario: a call girl. But did she have a choice? No. She needed money. No, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that being a call girl is a good profession. No way. Nor am i saying that you need to become one in order to earn money. What i'm trying to say is that in this corrupt world, there are people who don't have money, not educated enough to hunt for a proper job. I'm really upset that a lot of us have judged her. We have called her names like "hur" but did we really look at the reason? We are blessed that we live comfortably, that we can eat 3 meals a day, that we forget there are people like her who don't even get so much.I am angered by our narrowmindedness, at our behaviour, at our thoughts.... We cannot be legallistic. This is not the time to think and wonder why she was in that car and why she was with those people, this is not the time to cynical. We have to really think hard about how we can help people who are in dire need. Let us also not forget that we have to serve one another in love. And please, I plead with you, Pray for her family, for her friends at this time, and please don't judge her. We are not her Judge. Jesus is. They are in much pain and sorrow. Never forget, God is in control.
and remember this sad ironic reality : On one hand, people die because they have a lot of money, while on the other hand, there are people who die because they have none.
