Occasions to celebrate
Do we require occasions to celebrate?
People to come up, to congratulate?
A win, a mark an achievement great
Always on stage, always upfront?
Do we require reasons to celebrate?
What about the light of the sun
And green meadows that tempt you to run
And music that fills the corners of the mind
Lifts your spirits with thoughts sublime
Do we require events to celebrate?
What about a mothers love that embraces
One in a warm cocoon of safety and trust
A Father’s strong hug and support
That helps one face one’s growing up pains
Do we require occasions to celebrate?
What about a brother’s and sisters love
That always lifts your spirit when you’re down
And the playful jokes and camaraderie that you share
Which deepens your love and care?
Do we require reasons to celebrate?
What about your grandparents who think you’re a pleasure
Whose hearts are filled with love you can’t measure
Whose memories you’ll forever treasure
Do we require events to celebrate?
What about a peck on your cheek, a friendly shove
Of a friend who’ll always be by your side
In happiness and sorrow, in darkness and light
Never leaves you even when things aren’t right
Do we require occasions to celebrate?
What about the heart that beats in tune
And the organs that work in harmony
Following the creations plan divine
Do we require reasons to celebrate?What about the teacher who always lends a hand
So that in life you can take a stand
She’s a helper buzzing into your mind
With a broom to clean all that’s not divine
Do we require events to celebrate?
What about God’s faithful promise
Who’ll always be there and never to forsake
Whose love is so pure and never ending?
Get up and stop moaning about what you don’t have
Relish the taste of love
Rejoice for the gift of life
Celebrate what you have
